Questions to Ask When Choosing a Rehab Center

Someone you love might be seeking inpatient addiction treatment in Ohio. If this is the case, you should do whatever you can to help this person to find the best rehab center possible to get the help he or she needs. This is not a process that should be rushed. You need to take your time and compare all of your options. Choosing one of the first rehab centers you find online will most likely be a bad decision. There are a wide variety of rehab centers for you to choose from. Therefore, it would be in your best interests to check out as many as you can. This will allow you to locate a rehab center that is ideally suited for your loved one’s needs. Here are the most crucial questions that should be asked during the selection process.

1. How long will the entire rehab program last?

Not all rehab programs will last the same length of time. This is why you need to find out the time frame involved in the rehab programs of every facility you are interested in. You will need to find out this info so you can ask for the correct amount of time off from your job.

2. How many patients will be in the rehab program with you?

This is important for you to know because you want to avoid being in a facility that has a very large group of patients who are receiving treatment at the same time. This situation will usually mean that your loved one will not get the attention that he or she deserves from the staff. Rehab centers that have too many patients for their staff to deal with should be avoided at all costs. You should also find out the number of staff members that will be working at the facility. You will then be able to figure out the ratio of staff members to patients.

3. What are all of the amenities that are offered by the rehab center?

Not all rehab centers will look the same. There are inexpensive facilities that will not offer much of anything in the way of amenities. However, there are also very expensive facilities that are basically the equivalent of a vacation getaway. You should take a look at all of the amenities that are provided by the Ohio detox centers you are interested in. Are there particular amenities that your loved one wants to use while he or she is going to rehab? For example, your loved one might want to have access to a game room, satellite TV and a swimming pool. You should have your loved one make a list of amenities so that you can look for rehab centers that have them. You can then compare prices.

4. Will patients have access to their personal phones and the Internet while they are in treatment?

There are many rehab facilities that prohibit their patients from having any access to the outside world that is not controlled by them. This means that patients are not allowed to bring any tablets, smartphones or laptops into the rehab center. This is done to prevent the patients from having contact with negative influences who could possibly ruin the progress they have made. However, this is not the case at all rehab centers. The policy regarding patients using mobile devices and laptops while in rehab will vary. Therefore, find out the policies of the specific rehab centers your loved one is thinking about going to.

5. How often are patients allowed to call their loved ones?

Rehab centers will have a phone that patients can use to call their families. However, access to this phone will be limited. Patients will only be allowed to make calls during authorized times. You should find out the policy regarding phone use. Some rehab centers allow their patients to make more calls that other facilities.

6. When will family members be able to visit the rehab facility?

Patients in rehab always look forward to the day that family members are allowed to come to the facility for a visit. You should find out the specific date of the visit so your loved one will know what to expect. Some people find it hard to be alone in the rehab center. Therefore, they need to see their families to give them strength to make it through treatment. Most rehab centers wait a couple weeks before they allow families to visit.
