The appearance of younger, fresher looking skin is no doubt something we all want to achieve, and with a few tricks up your sleeve and a bit of know-how, it’s definitely a reachable goal.
We’ve compiled a list of essential do’s and don’ts to follow on your journey to fresh, young skin!
Do drink plenty of water
You’ve no doubt heard this so many times, but water is so beneficial for so many things in the body, and skin is one of them. Ideally, you should drink 2 litres a day to ensure that your body’s skin cells receives enough to rejuvenate and do their job of repairing and replenishing.
Do get lots of exercise
As well as keeping us healthy and helping us feel younger physically, exercise is important for achieving younger looking skin as it encourages blood circulation which gives our skin that healthy glow.
Don’t expose yourself to the sun without protection
Sun damage to our skin is so easily avoided with the use of SPF creams and moisturisers. Whether you’re in the sun for a long time or even just a short time, protect yourself.
Don’t underestimate the importance of sleep
Our bodies love sleep – just check out this infographic! – so don’t skimp on getting those vital 6-8 hours each night, so that your body has time to repair itself; helping you look and feel younger as you wake.
Do ditch the vices
Those bad habits such as smoking and drinking alcohol regularly are terrible for our skin (and the rest of our bodies, of course). Therefore there couldn’t be a better reason to drop those vices once and for all, and start leading a healthier life!
Do eat foods that are rich in antioxidants
Foods that are rich in antioxidants and rich in flavonoids are really beneficial as they are potent inhibitors or blocker of the enzymes which causes ageing of the skin. Some examples of these types of foods include elderflower, red berries and soya beans.
Don’t opt for drastic measures straight away
It can be so tempting to see a problem (a wrinkle, perhaps) and think of finding a quick solution for it, such as going under the knife or getting some Botox treatment. However, these are really drastic measures that should never be taken lightly, and it’s highly recommended that you try lots of other options first, as you’re really likely to find something much simpler and safer that will work for you to slow down the visual aging process.
Don’t underestimate the power of good anti aging products
One of those simpler options includes using good anti aging products. You can even get anti aging products online now which makes it even easier to find great ones that will work wonders for you. Speak to your friends and family members to swap suggestions and recommendations, check out online reviews of products and even speak to trained dermatologists to see if they have any recommendations too.
